Project Center Tenth Edition Help

Message Classes dialog box

Use this dialog box to prevent filing of certain types of email messages to Project Center projects. Enter the message class you want to prevent from being filed in the field, then click OK.

Background

Some third-party email solutions archive email messages in users' mailboxes. The software does this by removing the email message from the mailbox and replacing it with a stub, which is very small.  When a user clicks on this stub, their third-party software presents the original message to the user as if it was still in the user's mailbox.

Project Center users should not file these messages, since Project Center files the stub, and other project users will not be able to use the stub to view the message. This feature was added to try to prevent filing of these stubs to Project Center. This is done by looking at an internal property of an email message called the “message class.”  If the archiving software changes this message class and an administrator can find out what that is, the administrator can add that value to the list using this dialog box to prevent filing of those types of messages. The field is pre-populated with the values Newforma is aware of, but administrators can use the dialog box to add and remove values based on their particular software.
