SharePoint® Integration Overview
When searching a SharePoint site from Project Center, Project Center delegates the search request to SharePoint and displays the results in the Search Results window. This means that SharePoint is actually indexing and searching the content on the SharePoint site. As a result, the search will be able to receive hits on anything that SharePoint indexes, including its document libraries, discussions, pages, etc.
Project Center allows each project to be associated with a particular SharePoint site. To test if the integration will work, verify that the SharePoint Query Service is working on the SharePoint site. For example, let’s say the URL to the main page of the SharePoint site is http://intranet/project993772/default.aspx. In this case, try accessing http://intranet/project993772/_vti_bin/search.asmx from a web browser. You should get a page titled QueryService. If you do not, then SharePoint’s search facilities may not be configured to index and search the SharePoint site.

Project Center tries to authenticate with the SharePoint site using the user’s credentials, so the person running Project Center must also have access to the SharePoint site in order to run searches against it. If you have a SharePoint site and a SharePoint Portal Server up and running with full search functionality, simply entering the SharePoint site's URL (like the example listed above) in the Edit Project Settings dialog box for the project is all you need to do.
